A Deformable Surface-Spine Model for 3-D Surface Registration

چکیده
A finite-element deformable surface-spine model is developed in this paper to register two surfaces by recovering the nonlinear deformation with respect to each other. The deformable surface-spine model is a dynamic model governed by Lagrangian motion equations. A 9 degree-of-freedom (dof) finite-element surface element and a $-dof spine element are developed to iteratively solve Lagrangian equations for computing the deformation between two surfaces. The method has been applied to registration of computerized surgical prostate models. Experimental results have demonstrated that the new registration method can successfully match complex-structured surfaces by recovering the nonlinear deformation.

A Statisitical Shape Model for Deformable Surface Registration
This short paper presents a deformable surface registration scheme which is based on the statistical shape modelling technique. The method consists of two major processing stages, model building and model fitting. A statistical shape model is first built using a set of training data. Then the model is deformed and matched to the new data by a modified iterative closest point (ICP) registration ...
متن کاملDeformable Registration of Cortical Structures via Hybrid Volumetric and Surface Warping
Registration of cortical structures across individuals is a very important step for quantitative analysis of the human brain cortex. This paper presents a method for deformable registration of cortical structures across individuals, using hybrid volumetric and surface warping. In the first step, a feature-based volumetric registration algorithm is used to warp a model cortical surface to the in...
متن کاملGeneralized Surface Flows for Deformable Registration and Cortical Matching
Despite being routinely required in medical applications, deformable surface registration is notoriously difficult due to large intersubject variability and complex geometry of most medical datasets. We present a general and flexible deformable matching framework based on generalized surface flows that efficiently tackles these issues through tailored deformation priors and multiresolution comp...

متن کاملThe Alignment Between 3-D Data and Articulated Shapes with Bending Surfaces
In this paper we address the problem of aligning 3-D data with articulated shapes. This problem resides at the core of many motion tracking methods with applications in human motion capture, action recognition, medical-image analysis, etc. We describe an articulated and bending surface representation well suited for this task as well as a method which aligns (or registers) such a surface to 3-D...
